What an AI customer service agent actually does
This is not a canned FAQ widget. We build an agent grounded in your help docs, past tickets, and policies so it answers in your voice and only from sources you control. It can look up an order, check a subscription status, or draft a reply for a human to approve.
The point is deflection with a safety net. Routine, repeatable questions get resolved instantly, day or night, while anything ambiguous or sensitive is handed to your team with the full conversation attached.
- Answers grounded in your knowledge base, not the open internet
- Connects to your helpdesk (Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Gorgias, or a custom stack)
- Handles multi-turn conversations, not one-shot replies
- Escalates with full context when confidence is low
- Works across chat, email, and web widget from one brain
Escalation and guardrails come first
An honest agent knows what it doesn't know. We tune a confidence threshold so the agent abstains and routes to a human instead of guessing, and we log every decision so you can audit what it said and why.
You decide the boundaries: which topics it can resolve on its own, which always go to a person (refunds over a limit, account changes, anything legal or medical), and what it is never allowed to promise.
- Confidence threshold and 'I'm not sure, let me get a person' fallback
- Topic allowlists and hard stops for sensitive actions
- Full transcript and reasoning handed to the agent on escalation
- Guardrails against inventing policies, prices, or timelines
- Human-in-the-loop review mode before any reply goes out, if you want it

Frequently asked questions
Will it make up answers when it doesn't know?
Not if it's built correctly. We ground the agent in your documents and set it to abstain and escalate when it can't find a supported answer. Saying 'I'll connect you with someone' is a designed behavior, not a failure.
Do we need clean documentation before this works?
It helps, but you don't need perfection. Part of the project is reviewing your existing docs and past tickets, filling obvious gaps, and structuring the knowledge so the agent can retrieve it reliably. We'll flag where your content is thin.
Can it plug into the helpdesk we already use?
Usually yes. We integrate with common platforms through their APIs, and for custom systems we build against your endpoints. We'll confirm feasibility with you on a free consultation before scoping.
