What Play publishing actually involves
Publishing to Google Play is more than uploading a file. You need a Google Play Developer account (a one-time registration fee applies, paid to Google), a signed release build in the Android App Bundle (AAB) format, a complete store listing, and a set of required policy declarations before Google will review the app.
Google reviews new apps and updates before they go live. Most reviews complete within a few days, though newer developer accounts and sensitive app categories can take longer. We prepare the submission so it clears review the first time whenever possible.
- Google Play Developer account registration (one-time fee paid to Google)
- Signed release build as an Android App Bundle, with Play App Signing enabled
- Store listing: title, descriptions, screenshots, feature graphic, and icon
- Content rating questionnaire, target audience, and data safety declarations
- Privacy policy URL and any permission or foreground-service justifications
- Staged rollout so you can release to a percentage of users first
The declarations that trip people up
Most of the friction in a first submission is paperwork, not code. The Data Safety form must accurately describe what data your app collects and shares. Apps that request sensitive permissions — location, SMS, accessibility services — need a clear justification, and some require a demo login or a short video.
We fill these out carefully and truthfully, because a mismatch between what you declare and what the app actually does is a common reason for rejection or later removal. Getting it right the first time is faster than fixing a rejection.
- Accurate Data Safety section matching the app's real behavior
- Justifications for sensitive permissions and background location
- Test credentials or a demo walkthrough when the app is behind a login
- Target API level that meets Google's current requirement
- Internal, closed, and open testing tracks before the production release

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to publish on Google Play?
Google charges a one-time developer registration fee (paid directly to Google, not to us) to open a Play Console account. That's separate from our fee to prepare and submit the app. On a consultation we'll walk you through both so there are no surprises.
How long does Google's review take?
Often a few days, but it varies. Newer developer accounts, apps with sensitive permissions, and certain categories can take longer. We can't promise an exact timeline because Google controls the queue, but a clean, complete submission is the best way to keep it short.
Can you publish the app under my company's account?
Yes, and that's usually the right approach — you should own the developer account and the app listing. We do the setup and submission with you as the account owner so the app stays yours.
